Trevor came out of his house. A spider's web caught on his ear. Trevor brushed it away.
"You saved my life!" shrieked a small voice by his ear.
A tiny fairy jumped onto Trevor's nose. "I was stuck in that web. You rescued me! Now I will grant you three wishes."
"No thanks. I've got work to do," said Trevor and he flicked the fairy off his nose.
The fairy landed in a bush.
"Well really!" she said as she straightened her wings. She flew after Trevor.
"You WILL have your three wishes."
Trevor ignored her and walked into a field.
The field was full of crows. Trevor walked into the middle of them and lifted up his arms.
"Arghh! What a stink!" cried the crows and they flew away.
"Put your smelly arms down. You're scaring the crows," said the fairy.
"It's my job to scare them," said Trevor and he waved his arms around.
"Nobody wants to be that smelly," said the fairy. "I will use one of your wishes for you."
The fairy waved her wand.
Suddenly, Trevor was clean and fresh smelling. The crows flew back and settled on his arms.
Trevor angrily shook the crows off.
"What have you done to me? I'm a troll. I'm supposed to stink!"
The fairy flew out of his way.
"Now clear off! I've got work to do," said Trevor and he stormed off down the lane.
The fairy followed Trevor to a bridge. He hid under it. The fairy saw three goats waiting to cross the bridge.
She gasped. "That nasty troll is going to jump out and scare those poor goats!"
Trevor grinned as the smallest goat trip trapped onto the bridge.
"I won't let you scare them. This is your second wish," said the fairy and she waved her wand.
"Boo!" Trevor yelled as he jumped onto the bridge.
The goat smiled. "Hey handsome. What's your name?"
"Pardon?" said Trevor.
The goat called to her friends, "Girls! Come and look at this gorgeous creature. I'm going to marry him!"
Trevor looked at his reflection in the river.
"Yuck!" he said in disgust as he saw how handsome he looked. "Where's that fairy?"
"Here I am! Do you like your new look?"
"No. How many wishes have I got left?" Trevor asked.
"Just one," said the fairy.
"Then turn me back into how I was," Trevor demanded.
The fairy folded her arms. "No I won't!"
"Then I'll use my wish to turn you into a troll!" Trevor yelled.
The fairy yelped. "I don't want to change. I like being a fairy."
"And I like being a troll," Trevor answered.
The fairy stared at Trevor. Trevor stared back.
"Oh, all right," the fairy sighed and she waved her wand.
"Thank you," Trevor said. "Now I can get on with my work."
"What do you do all day?" the fairy asked.
"You can come with me," said Trevor. "Just keep your wand to yourself and don't try to change me."
The fairy smiled, "I give you my fairy promise."
The troll and the fairy set off down the road, leaving a trail of mud and glitter behind them.
