San Francisco Book Review of You Can't Scare A Princess!

A huge thank you to Rosi Hollinbeck who wrote a lovely review of 'You Can't Scare A Princess!' Rosi also kindly wrote a super review of the first Princess Spaghetti book. It's always reassuring to get good reviews as the test of a good book is in the reading.

The end part of the review is :

'Gillian Rogerson has written another charming, funny story about Princess Spaghetti. As if that weren't a treasure enough to keep the pages turning, the rich illustrations by Sarah McIntyre are an absolute treat. This is a book that will be read over and over again, and with every reading, youngsters (and adults) will uncover ever more brilliant illustrations.'

Rosi was right about the illustrations, I keep finding new things in the book. When I last saw Sarah, she told me about a specific dinosaur that was on one of the pages - I hadn't even spotted it!

Thank you again to Rosi. I wish I could be like Flat Stanley and post myself to America to see you.

Book Trust - You Can't Eat A Princess!

Readers will enjoy a story about a Royal Family with food related first names, a penchant for chocolate, and a Royal Guard too interested in hair, teddies and knitting to search for the missing King! Throw in plucky Princess Spaghetti and a handful of royalty-eating aliens and you have a delightfully quirky picture book.

Great Reviews

I wanted to share some of the recent reviews for my books and to say a big thank you to all the reviewers who took the time to write such lovely comments.

You Can't Eat A Princess!

A bright and bouncy adventure, wittily illustrated - look out for planets in the shape of favourite sweets - and with a fun pay-off line.

This deliciously greedy story tells how Princess Spaghetti blasts off into space to rescue her father, the King, when he is kidnapped by hungry aliens who threaten to eat him up. The Princess is bold, the courtiers are weak, the aliens are devious and the background is full of pictures of food in what is a highly entertaining book.

This is a funny book that turns the idea of helpless princesses on its head and delivers a gal who packs a punch.

I loved this book, and so did my two children. There's a great message in there : loving pink and cute stuff does not necessarily mean you are not a strong, assertive character.

This book about princesses and chocolate was a sure-fire winner with our two little girls. They loved feisty Princess Spaghetti as she rocketed into space to save King Cupcake from a gang of hungry aliens.

The Smallest Hero

This is a really funny story, which in my opinion is perfect for a child of my son's age, he is at the point in his life where he thinks he is bigger than he is, and can't understand why his slightly older sibling can do things that he is not allowed to do yet, this story shows that actually, in reality, you can achieve anything ...no matter what your size!
