Writing Activities For Young Children

One of the first words that children learn to write is their own name. Get them to have fun with their name and to use their imagination at the same time. Make it fun and make it silly, use alliteration.

1. Sam - Super Sam - Super Sam saves six sizzling sausages.

Bella - Bouncing Bella - Bouncing Bella breaks burping bicycle.

Add colours, characters and objects :

S  - Singing Starfish

A  - Angry Alligator

M  - Munching Monster

B  - Blue Banana

E  - Emerald Elephants

L  - Lime Lollipops

L  - Lemon Lions

A  - Amber Ant

You can get the children to find out different names for colours, paint charts from DIY shops are ideal for this. They can use the colours to write out their names with as many silly characters they can think of:

Sam the silver snake.

Bella the baby blue baboon.

Have fun with this!
