I must say thank you to the Brownies and Rainbows in Morley. I read You Can't Eat A Princess! to them a few days ago. I hope you enjoyed desiging your own aliens! My knitted Princess Spaghetti doll was very popular and I was asked if I would knit a doll for each and every one of them. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to do that but the good news is that there will be an official knitting pattern out soon. I will send a copy to the Rainbows leader.
I have been asked to write a children's history book about Leeds. This will involve a lot of lovely research about Leeds (or being nosey as my daughters say). I've already found out that before the Romans came along West Yorkshire was ruled by a queen. This queen admired the Romans and even handed over a British hero so that the Romans would like her. Her husband didn't like this and he eventually started a war against her. If you go to www.hometownworld.co.uk you will see the kind of book that I am aiming to write. It's great project and I'm so pleased to be part of it.
I have got a busy week coming up. I am at Morley library on Saturday 9th October at 11am as part of the Morley Literature Festival. Then, the next day I am travelling to Beverley and will be doing a reading at the Children's Library, Treasure House, as part of the Beverley Literature Festival.
I'm really pleased to announce that Princess Spaghetti will be going on another adventure! I can't say anymore at the moment except thank you to Scholastic for making this happen.
I must say hello to my young friend, Shannon, who is doing a project on me for her school homework. Thank you, Shannon, you've made me feel like a celebrity!
Thank you to my lovely friend, Helen, who took me out for dinner to celebrate my birthday. We've known each other since school and even had our two children at similiar times. Girls for me, boys for Helen. We are constanly amazed that our children have grown so quickly, our eldest will both be 16 next year. It's astonishing that our children have grown so quickly yet we haven't aged at all.
