This is a creative exercise that is always popular with children. In fact, sometimes it's hard to get them to stop!
Ask your child to design their very own dream car. It's better to get them to draw the car first and write about it afterwards. The car can have as many doors as the child wants. It can be shaped like a tank, fish, dog, space rocket etc. It can have super powers such as being able to fly or become invisible at the touch of a button. Some of the best ideas I've seen are :
Cars with disco lights;
Musical cars with painted characters on the side:
A goldfish car that can drive along the bottom of the sea;
A dog car that barks instead of beeping.
Ask your child to fill in details such as how fast the car can go, how many passengers it will carry and how much it will cost. For the writing part your child can be the first one to drive the car. Where will they go? Who will they meet?
If I had to design my perfect car it would be a self cleaning one that took itself to the garage to fill up with petrol. It would have a magic button that made traffic lights turn to green. It would be able to fly over traffic queues. Of course, it would have a mini fridge full of chocolate.
