Chocolate

Chocolate must be the perfect all year round food.

When it is freezing cold outside (and especially when I am standing outside during my daughter's golf lesson) it is so lovely and comforting to be drinking hot chocolate. It keeps your hands warm, it tastes delicious and you can feel it warming up your insides as it goes down into your tummy.

On Autumn days when you've been out collecting conkers and jumping in leaves then hot chocolate is just the thing to have when you return home. You can add cream, marshmallows, more cream. Yum.

Spring is Easter time. All those Easter Eggs! New ones, old favourites, ones on special offer at the supermarket, ones that are too good for children. What a lovely choice.

Summer is perfect for chocolate ice cream. There are so many varieties. It is your duty to try them all. Someone somewhere has taken the time to invent a new combination of ice cream, it would be rude of us not to try them all out. If the weather is blistering hot and you are exhausted by the heat your favourite chocolate bar will have done you a favour and started to melt a bit - so it takes less effort for you to eat it. Thoughtful food.

My latest book You Can't Eat A Princess! has a strong chocolate theme. Sarah, the illustrator has done a fantastic job with the pictures of food. Don't read this book when you are hungry!

I can feel chocolate calling me - but what should I have? It is Summer but it's a bit chilly today. Decisions, decisions.
